An introduction to Peter Österberg, Ph.D.

My name is Peter Österberg, I'm a psychological scientist. I'm from Sweden, but I live in Helsingfors.

I have a PhD in work and organizational psychology, especially about executive leadership, decisions making, organizational learning, entrepreneurs al thinking, and social creativity for problem-solving and innovation. I'm an expert in anthropological/evolutionary social neuropsychology, including social aspects of human emotions.

Currently I offer courses, lectures and speaking partner services at master class level through Academic Competency.

Background

I'm a former performance coach.

I have two educational paths:
  1. MSc. Business administration (market analysis (DIHM) and organizational learning (quantitative) (Österberg, 2002).

  2. Psychology. BA, experimental emotional psychology (Österberg, 2001), MSc social psychology (Österberg, 2004), and work- and organizational psychology (Österberg, 2012).
After Daniel Kahneman was awarded the prize in economy in memory of Alfred Nobel, I was recruited to the only fully financed position at a faculty to write my doctoral thesis. Part of the agreement included that I would help established researchers with methodological issues.

During my doctoral Journey, I was assigned to various university colleges (n>10) to lecture in topics like creativity for problem-solving and innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and leadership.

I defended my PhD in psychology at Lund universitet (Österberg, 2012).

In August 2018, I was again recruited, this time to be a research-leader for a project at the University of Helsingfors, to answer the question: What is the future of Finnish agriculture from a perspective of rational entrepreneurial thinking? (Österberg, 2021).

My Unique Selling Points (USPs) are:
  1. my expertise in prospective thinking, for example how leadership affects the work environment (climate), which Influences productivity, learning within organizations and social creativity for problem solving.

  2. Besides lectures and talks, I conduct workshops to facilitate creative and entrepreneurial thinking.

  3. Method: quantitative and qualitative.

  4. >20 years experience of speaking partnership/executive coaching.

  5. a longstanding experience in research and lecturing on prospective thinking like leadership, work-climate, decision making, learning, and social creativity for problem-solving, as well as method - qualitative and quantitative.

Currently I offer courses, lectures and speaking partner services at master class level through Academic Competency. The contents are the same as in the courses I offered at various universities, e.g., Gothenburg university, University of Helsingfors, Karlstad Business School, and Uppsala university, to name a few (n>10).
