Curriculum vitae (CV)

First name: Peter

Surname:Österberg

Orcid: 0000-0002-9712-3423

Date of the CV:2024-04-21

I have a longstanding experience in research and lecturing on aspects concerning prospective thinking, e.g. leadership style, work-climate, decision making, general and organizational learning, and social creativity for problem-solving, as well as qualitative and quantitative methods. This includes project management.

My personality. (1) I'm cautious/social compliant, (2) A director, (3) an extrovert and emotional stable, (4) agreeable-conscientious (5) Immodual-vulnerable-Self-conscious, (6) cheerful-assertive-friendly, (7) intellectual -imaginative-artistic, (8) cooperative-sympathetic-trustworthy-moral, (9) orderly-high on Self-efficacy-dutiful, (10) balanced (MMPI-2). My background is management, coaching, and teaching. In my teens, I was recruited to manage a small sports association within the Swedish YMCA. I also became a rescue diver (CMAS**). Within a few years, the organization grew to fifteen coaches, with me as the head-coach. While doing that, I also worked as a substitute teacher, mainly teaching math for eight to nine grade students at elementary school. On my last gig as a performance coach, the athlete's (n=6) average performance improvement was 125% over a period of 18 months. I spent ~20 years being a teacher, manager, and coach.

Along that path, I was recruited to become head of education for a sports federation in Sweden. The assignment was to develop and conduct leadership courses all over Sweden, including the Swedish School's of Sports and Health Sciences in Stockholm and Örebro.

I took a break to run my own business, following in my fathers foot-steps to become a business entrepreneur and managing director. The business was mainly about education, leadership and performance, but during a few years, I also ran a summer café.

At the ending of my coaching carrier, my focus shifted from intentional prospection and performance to the interplay between declarative and non-declarative memory systems, and generative learning.

When Daniel Kahneman received the prize in economy in memory of Alfred Nobel for the work he and Amos Tversky had conducted on natural stupidity, I was recruited to write my doctorate at a department for economy and business administration. Included in that role was to be a tutor in method to researchers in economy. The work was interdisciplinary between organisational learning in business administration and psychology. During that time, two things happened:
  1. while interviewing executive leaders for my research project, I was asked to become an executive coach for CEOs.

  2. I became a 'consulting lecturer' at several university colleges in Sweden (n>10) as well as the University of Helsingfors, mostly about leadership style, social creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking, but also method.
I was also part of a research network at the Karolinska Institute (2014-2018).

I was eventually recruited to Helsingfors university to take the role as a research leader. The assignment was to investigate the future for Finland's food production from a perspective of entrepreneurial thinking. I got recognition for my work by the rector and internationally, and got the opportunity to present the outcome of my research project for 1000 researchers in India, the university of Aristoteles, and I was an invited speaker at the International Dairy Foundation (IDF) global conference.

Currently, I'm running Academic Competency, where I support business managers about leadership, work climate, to influence performance, learning, and creativity for problem solving and innovation. I teach Swedish and English, for beginners, and in the context of business and research. In a group-setting or one-on-one.
