Order a Master class in nutrition psychology for you and your friends (N>20).
Nutrition and psychology are two complex topics. Few people think of the connection - that what we eat influences how we think and feel, and that how we think and feel influences decision making about what we eat.
Peter Österberg is an expert in evolutionary social neuro-psychology, including social aspects of human emotions. He earned his PhD in psychology from Lund university on a thesis about the relationship between leadership style and social creativity for problem solving and innovation – a mental capacity which is general to humans.
Dr Österberg has lectured at several universities in Sweden and abroad (n>10).
Peter was recruited to the university of Helsingfors to explore the future of food production from a perspective of entrepreneurial thinking (Österberg, 2021, in Swedish).
Nutrition psychology. Within that project he explored the interrelation between food and mental health (well-being), that is, how what we eat can suppress normal mental executive functions, including intentional prospection and social creativity for problem-solving and innovation.
Mental illness is soaring in Finland. Fpa/KELA estimate that mental illness costs the taxpayers 1 billion Euros every year. The Brain foundation expects 50% of the women and 33% of the men over 45 years of age to suffer from a serious brain disease during their lifetime. The risk of contracting Alzheimers is twice as high in Finland compared to neighboring Sweden (EU/OECD, 2023). And according to the University of Helsingfors 77% of Finnish women and 70% of the Finnish men, will receive a mental health diagnosis during their lifetime.
Food is also costly, especially if you purchase stuff that will not support your well-being. Bad food triggers the urge to have more, leading to overeating, which is costly and damaging to health. Peter will demonstrate how food choices not only improve health, but also your food costs, long-term.
